The Third Annual Conference of the Balkan Association of Applied Economists (BAAE), titled “Applied Economics for Inclusive Growth in the Western Balkans”, will take place on 19 and 20 June at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Belgrade.
The conference will bring together researchers, university professors and experts from the region and Europe to discuss economic growth, regional trade, competitiveness, the green transition, labour markets, education and skills in the context of accelerating technological change.
Over the course of two days, the programme will address some of the key development challenges facing the Western Balkans: how new growth models can support more inclusive development, what role CEFTA and the Common Regional Market can play in strengthening trade and competitiveness, how climate change is shaping economic policy in the region, and how labour markets and education systems are adapting to digitalisation and changing skills needs.
A dedicated session will focus on labour markets, education and skills in the context of technological change. The session will be moderated by Branka Anđelković from Re:People – Centre for Society and Technology, while Tanja Jakobi, also from Re:People, will be among the speakers.
Re:People is taking part in the conference as one of the partners, with its representatives also contributing to the conference organising and advisory boards.
The conference is supported by the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans.
